Unity in Diversity?

Disclaimer: These are the sole views of the author. And, in no way are they intended to hurt the feelings of anyone.
*******************************
Have you ever wondered as to why is it that we such a HUGE parade on 26th of January? And that be it cold, or foggy or whatever- Almost the entire country is wide awake when the 'Chabees Janwary' parade is aired. I think this is one of the very few days that Doordarshan, has TRPs!!!
The reason is simple- The entire world waits for this parade- Because this parade is the 'Show of Strength' to the other nations. It is an exercise of propaganda for country.. yeah we are very humble people, but it is ok to show off sometimes.

61st Year of being a Republic, was also marked by the auspicious release of the Newest, and the most talked about Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara... on Youtube, it has been posted as a reply to the Old Video of Mile Sur Mera Tumhara.

And boy oh boy- Has it created some ripples on the blogosphere and on twitter. I must say, that, I thought that I would not give my opinion on this. But then, I saw both the videos, and I couldn't resist the temptation to give my opinion on the same. Actually, thanks to Mr. Bald Guy, I was directed to this post which prompted this post.

Ohkay, the views are going to be biased, for sure... after all I have grown up watching this video. What the heck- I was 7 years old when DD2 was launched... and I had to actually eat extra food to see some decent Television.

So, here goes-
The moment that video comes on air- You feel a sense of tranquility, as sense of being the Indian that you are. The old video, shows the Unity in diversity. It shows it when MithunDa, Jitendra and Amitab Bachchan stand together and sing... the new video unfortunately is simply a show of strength. It just shows, frame after frame- nothing but the actors.... Individually... The poster boys.
Has India, got nothing more to offer than Indian Actors?
The new video opens with A.R. Rehman, and ofcourse we applaud at his achievements and are proud of him, but trust me, not having The Nightingale of the Music industry in the video makes it for a sad watch. Ms. Padokune should've had more sense to wear.... I dunno, lets not comment on the clothes... we should just be talking about the spirit.. which is also missing in the new video. The New video, does not inspire- It just makes me sigh, and feel, 'Yeah India has progressed... but...
The most important aspects of the old video were- That it was the video of the common, the common man... the new video missed that- It totally has nothing to do with the common man- the one which has risen.
The future the children, which made up the flag in the end of the old video... well, the only one I saw in the new one were dancing with the stars.
The thing that irked me most was-
That the video looked a like total propaganda to impress the MNS. Look closely at the video- There is no Delhi Metro, or any mention of the commonwealth or the T20 world cup that we won. You can see the Taj, the Bandra-Worli sea link, and mostly that entire stretch of Mumbai.

The essence of India, missing in the new video. And that is what I think.
If India is nothing but bollywood, and stamp from the Oscars- Then, well, can I say that, I want to be a part of the broader and the new India? The India- That truly is... United, despite the Diversity.

"Marriage is in the air"

on 20th jan a friend of mine got engaged ... Many more are in pipeline ... Like utpal is getting married on 9th feb ... have we grown up finally ??? today when i see school kids then i get the feeling how good those days used to be ... Many small kids now say uncle to me even though i still look like a school boy .. I feel like slapping these kids but then "sach hamesha kadwa hota hai"

So, we are grown up enough to manage our own family ... People say "marriages are made in heaven" is it really ??
I asked the same friend who got engaged " bhabhi kaisi hai"
His reply was " theek hai "
I asked "kya hua be , dukhi kyon hai"
He replied "I saw ur bhabhi for the 1st time on the day of engagement"
I know this guy for past 3 years .he is very jolly type , energetic .. Now after the engagement he looks a bit down ... Whatever may be the reason but I thing is for sure "marriages are not made in heaven"... It is decided by social forces...

I hate arrange marriage ... How can u live with a person for a whole life time when u dont knw that person ... Gone are those days when people compromise for a whole life time .. Today everyone is well-educated & independent but why this society doesnt understand this ... Newez I am lucky on this front , since my parents always encourage love marriage ... The major reason for this is that they wont have to take the tension of finding a perfect match...

Lets see who is the 1st one to get married amongst us... the competition is b/w dipayan & shayon (& sakshi) ... If someelse wants to compete then come forward ..
Dion & Raths are out of comp. , i know... dion will end up studying the whole life ... By the time he is ready to tie knot , he would become total bald & probably he wont get a girl .. but yes he can get many guys :) :)
Raths , i dont think any Assamese girl will be left for him when he makes up his mind to mary since all of them will get away with some other guys ....
Gandhi will marry someday ... that someday tends to infinity..
I hope mannu finds a rapper wife...
karma needs to do some karma to get a girl ...
Samik's appearance shows him too old to get married...
Atri needs an "Ironwoman"...
Rudra is still palying that titanic son - my heart will go on , hoping to find his Rose ...
Chiru, after visiting two countries ,wont give much preferance to Bengali bala ...
& chaki is busy flirting ...

Coming to myself, who was so excited for weddings & all , there is no chance ...
Even today , I am excited but "mere haath mein koi ladki tikti hi nahi "
My parents dont have any tension about my marriage... On seeing their casual approach , I sometimes fear , will i ever get married ??
Btw my search for a perfect match continues .. I hope someday Il get her ...

njoy & have fun

shopping experience with a girl - part 2

hi friends ,
I am continuing from where i had left in the last post..

Next thing to buy were typical ladies accessories - earings, bangles so on, so on ..its an endless list ... We went to some other market ... There were females of all ages in that market ... The male population consisted mainly of shopkeepers & people who follow these females ... these followers can be son, husband, brother, friends & all other relations possible ..

My girl chooses a pair of blue earrings after looking at some million other earrings... Dont think that sales end here ... She asks me how it would look on her blue dress ... The 1st thing that comes in my mind on hearing blue is "Men in Blue". For a moment i started imagining our cricket team to be wearing blue earrings & hitting sixes...
I said great , its a perfect match for that dress (even if i dont remember the dress, i had to pretend) . I just wanted to get out of the shop ... She finally rejected it after thinking for next 10 min .. Reason - it should be slightly on darker side... WTF .. do we guys reject a pair of shoes because it wont match any dress .. Who cares , we just buy & latter on decide on which dress it should be worn.. While coming out of the shop i was having pity on the shopkeeper ...
Our shopping continues ... There is a plus point in roaming in a ladies market .. U get to see some really beautiful females & some newly wed perfect figures ... So I was busy in all this , whn she interrupted , "kahan dekh rahe ho, ye batao kaisa hai "
"tere blue dress ko pasand hai na "
"what"
"matlab bahot achcha hai "

At last she got her perfect match for that blue dress... I was wondering how lucky that blue dress is ... Actually girls dont shop for themselves , they shop for some dress or anything other stuff
then we had samosa &left for our homes..

But it was fun the time spent ... After all girls get ready for we guys only ... If they dont take so much of pain in getting ready then why we would run after them ...

so , girls are gilrs & guys are guys...

Just a Hi to all you buddies.....

Please don't get scared. May be many of you are thinking what happened to me and why am I writing here. But being a silent spectator in this blog, I suddenly thought of coming out of the grave and write something about me. After all, this blog binds us all.

Aall is well in Bangalore. Me and Shayon are only two here a I seriously wish that I will be able to meet few of you here very soon. On my job front, everything is smooth. On my personal front also everything is cool. Finally I became the proud owner of my bike. My EMIs for the bike completed last month and now RTO has stamped that it is my sweet bike and ICICI has nothing to do with the bike.

Well, few days back I bought three books. Though most of you know that the only books that I buy are related to computers but this time all the three books are related to management. The list goes below:
1) the One minute manager
2) Fish
3) Tipping Point

All three are wonderful books and I suggest all of you to read them.
'the One minute manager' tells about how to become a effective manger. Here manger refers to not only managing people but managing self. This book says that if you can manage yourself well then all will be well for you. It's a great read and just for 125 bucks it a great buy. I seriously loved it.

'Fish' tells you how to boost your morals and how to make your workplace more workable :-). How to enjoy the work which most of the time is not enjoyable for most of us. It takes example of a American fish market for explaining things. Wonderful!!! and its just 100 bucks.

The last one is 'Tipping Point'. Its tag line says 'How little things can make a big difference'. It starts with an example of Hush Puppies. A little known brand in India but is renowned in America and other parts of world. I talks about how the then dying brand suddenly revived itself and went on becoming one of the world's most famous brand. Its costs 225 bucks and is also a great buy.

Request you all to read these three books and share your reviews.

Ok, enough for today. Don't know when I will again write. But you can expect soon....Oh one more thing please visit my personal blog as one of my new year resolution is to bring it to life again. Though it is mostly technical but still Sakshi, you are always welcome :-).

I am getting married. NOT

And I give up.
Totally totally give up.

ALL OF YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY BUTTHEADS. Yeah read that again and again. I mean, hello- I thought that TWM is a forum which you all love. But no, all of you are so busy in your lives that you can't spare 10 minutes in ONE whole week to either update your beloved page, or to just leave a message on this page.

This what a third post that I put up in last couple of weeks, dammit the lack of enthusiasm by all of you is not helping the cause of the topfloorers who would normally contribute. When Gandhi put up the New Year post, none of you had the courtesy to wish Happy New Year to each other.Ofcourse you all did that through smses and phone calls... but I am sure that you guys are getting the drift.

Mannu and Dion...
I am really sorry that I had to resort this cheap marriage stunt. But yeah, this did not help either.

For the record- Shayon and I will get married eventually, I just made the announcement 2 years odd in advance. To support my claim here is the evidence.

I am sorry guys, but if you all love each other and this page- Then do something to keep it alive. I am sure that life is not as mundane as you guys are making it sound.

Rest ofcourse is upto you.

Penn Masala...

Firstly, I would like to wish all the sleeping members of TWM- A Very Happy New Year...!!!, I really really hope that in this new year we stop behaving like lazy arses and get the activity chart on this blog page some hope.
I mean guys, how could you not wish each other New Year... especially after Ankit did such a great job on that cute picture.
*******************************
Anyways, to all my dear Music enthusiasts, if you guys thought that music is all because of guitars and drums then here is a new genre that is just Awesome... its called A capella . An art that, wiki says has been here for quite some time.
I was introduced to this genre by my cousin who incepted the Band called Penn Masala, what started as a small college band at the University of Pennsylvania, is a rage now (atleast to me) and they had their first concert in Delhi yesterday at Hard Rock Cafe. ( I had asked Mr. Mannu, to come also, but unfortunately he could not make it). To be frank, I had no idea how the hell are they gonna get the Delhi crowd hooked to their style especially since they are not a commercially known band here in India. But, man weren't they awesome. Like really great... ofcourse, count the fact there were 11 good looking men on stage who were absolutely... WOW...!!!

I just thought that, I would introduce you guys to this Band and this genre...!!! After all, almost all of us are music enthusiasts and anything that sounds like music should be appreciated... Right??
