The Bong Connection !!!

Its 3 a.m. & I am not sleepy. So ,why not contribute to Wall-Mag ... Last saturday I was in Kolkata with Shayon , Karma & two other college friends. After a longtime I was in City of Joy. Two years back Kolkata was like crowded with college friends - it used to be a real fun time there. Things have changed completely now & only two or three of them are left there. Time passes so fast ... One day I was just sitting & thinking of past ten fun filled years. That feeling gripped me & made me sad. The flashback of old memories is talking upon me. I needed break to get out of this emotional confusion in my mind. This weekend helped me to refresh . We five guys met in Kolkata - Four Bengalis & One mathu-bihari . Shayon had in his mind to have pure bengali food for lunch.I think ,probably, he had come all the way from Mumbai just to have Bengali cuisine ... I have lived most of my as a neighbor of Bengal but somehow I didnt get a chance to have that true Bengali food...

Advice needed for Goa trip!

Guys, I'm planning a 3 day Goa trip with my family from 31st Aug-2nd Sept. Wanted your inputs whether this is a good time to visit Goa. My parents have already booked the ITC Guest House there but we can cancel it if this season is not a good time to visit To be specific, my queries are 1. Will water sports be still on in this season ? I just don't want to return without having done water sports because of the rising seas ? Doing water sports is something which I have been looking forward to for quite sometime. 2. How much is the amount of rain towards the end of Aug in Goa and will I be able to enjoy the beaches or will the clouds be looming over the sky throughout the day. 3. Is it "safe" to go to Goa with your parents ? :-D I have more questions but will ask them once based on your responses to the questions above. Looking forward to quick replies as I'm already late for booking my flight tickets and have to do it tomorrow .

Chug Along - II

While reading Rathz' account of his train journeys, I couldn't help but remember another train journey that i had experienced I was in the first year of college. I had written about it long back on Rediff Blogs. As a matter of fact, this was how I started blogging, in the first place. And I am sure a couple of you have already read this one in the past. That's why I thought not to write about it here. However, thanks to Sakshi's coaxing, and the fact that Rediff Blogs is gonna close down any day soon, I thought I'd post a copy here too, as a part of Rathz' 'Chug Along' Series. Train Journey that changed my Life! [snipped and unimportant] I had come to Mumbai during the Durga Puja Holidays. [snipped] I was leaving for Jamshedpur, also known as TataNagar, by the Gitanjali Express on the 11th of October. I was supposed to travel with a friend of mine, Arun Prasad, who stayed in Lokhandwala Complex. Arun was supposed to board the train from Victoria Termin...

Postcard from Morley, Leeds

How do you feel when you cross zones? It is exciting to go out of your zone; the probability of new adventures increases and you break away from a somewhat monotonous existence though there can be fatigue and emotional drain but that comes later and can be ignored for starters. The new zones will give you unfamiliar situations and you have to soak in everything. Later, these experiences will/may give way to new thoughts and directions. Well, I got to cross territorial zones three weeks back into UK from India. During the journey via Dubai and the stay so far in UK, language has never been a problem. English and Hindi/Urdu have guaranteed that I get my directions, tickets, seats and food without any translations. My first reaction while seeing the landscape while touchdown at Manchester airport was that it is like Assam !! Actually, it was green and wet to do the illusion for me. It was a fine sunny day when I arrived and it is a lovely time to b...

Miles to go..

Friends, good news, I'll be flying to UK today. I am very excited about the trip and also very relaxed coz some known faces there. Yes, I'll be catching hold of Karma and make him write some posts. I think we have missed his posts in TWM since he moved there, though there were occasional glimpses in FB. The plans for Ladakh and Tawang trips with Raj, Rajorshi & Raajesh(H) this year and to Sri Lanka as well, will have to wait. Yes, planmaster has lots of ideas in the kitty !! Last year, made good trips to Darjeeling, Gangtok, Bombay & Goa with these folks. Aaisha, the Park Street treat now bears fruit..hahaha. It had been a marriage season and thankfully I could attend Chax big day along with another at Vizag. Sadly, few still will be missed in the next couple of months. That's all folks. Keep posting and enjoy. Cheers.

The Wall Mag reunion @ Delhi

It was a great time spent in Delhi ... I donno how those three days passed away ... The best of them was the "wall-mag" reunion. It was nice to see many guys turning out ... we talked about old college days like manvender's 1st year plate & spoon incident to Dion's sexy boxers. . . I love leg pulling of Sakshi ... some notable incidents of the evening... 1) The confusion of the evening was that Debu thought Sakshi to be official fiance of Shayon ... it will take some time but we already consider her to be our Bhabhi ... 2) Grand entry of the evening was of Gandhi ... we all were eagerly waited for him for some one hour... 3) Best scene of the evening was Shayon bringing Coffee for Ayesha from some other store (as coffee machine was not working in our place) & sakshi shouting" how dare u treating my boyfriend as ur servant" ... oh .. these girls r alwez jealous of each other .. 4) emotional moment of the evening " Ayesha giving diwali gifts t...

Sojourn in the Hills

Hi TWM, My name is Rajorshi. This is my introductory post in any blog site.I'm not much into blogging but then I followed TWM for quite sumtime now and I must admit that the posts here are not just a good read but an amalgamation of creativity, knowledge and fun. Had you been following Raj’s tweets in his FB acct in the past 3 days, you must have known by now that the 3 idiots hit the hills once again! And this time, as per the sobriquet, it was the ‘Land of peace & tranquility’. As per the itinerary, we whistled out of Sealdah on Thursday night, Darjeeling Mail and reached the next morning at NJP. After a grueling bargaining with the touts, we finally managed to get a shared sumo and reached Gangtok after a well over 4 hours drive maneuvering the 125 kms. However, we quickly felt that we left the the hustle bustle of Siliguri behind us and by the time we reached the outskirts of the city, we completely forgot the heat and dust. The roads were not the usual twisters (snak...

Along NH37 - Assam

Same coordinates for 2 months or so and I am already planning for a getaway. Travel gives you a fresh mind and soul, be it visiting your dear ones or simply vacation at any place you like. Even when in my room, I am too restless to sit at a single place for a 'considerable' time. Few days back, suddenly I decided to head for Assam. Thus, I was flying in two days time for my longest leave in my professional life !!  As I looked down while landing at Jorhat, there was water everywhere and I just got apprehensive if the plan was indeed good. It had been raining in Assam for some months now and the mighty Brahmaputra was in a fiery mood. Nevertheless, I loved the weather during my stay. Rain clouds would appear from no where and will be in a mood to envelope the whole sky. It did and would pour till the sun took over. The result was lyrical, perfect for TWM's in-house poets to write down few lines !! The first evening itself I visited 5 families and stayed overnight ...

In the days gone by..

My trip...

There is one thing which makes our country unique than others. Its our diverse culture.. I have been to some 20 states of our nation n there are many things to see n experience ..The latest being my stay in Punjab- state of five rivers. I had come to Chandigarh to attend the wedding of my friends bro... I spent some four days with them & i must admit it was great fun .... From Punjabi beauties, to good food to superb roads... The biggest passion for them is eating & dancing...They carry a lot of stuffs to eat in the train too.. On the day of wedding there were some 100 plus items to eat... I couldn ’t even have a look at all of them... The people here are very open minded n frank... Also they are open to any new idea... probably this might be one of the reasons why they are so wealthy... in rock garden the wedding place In this whole trip I met people from various walks of life in trains & buses– A young Caption of Indian Army , A builder from Ludhiana , M...

a day..

I have been to a few places around Kolkata on picnics & outings. Each of the places were dusty and void of any vegetation. The attraction on those trips had been just the boat trips & of course the company. I always liked my travels, the wind beating on your face, the rural elements going past you, keeping your eyes fixed on the flight of a flock of birds, enjoying the sun go up & then, taking in all the moonlight inside you & in between the powerful beams from opposite traffic shakes you up. These are things which are abstract & can be savoured anywhere. It's also important that the place you go should be 'good'. On holi, we (Rahul, Suman, Abhinav, Samik, Karma & me) went to Mandarmani, some 240 Kms from Kolkata & I will surely recommend this place to anyone looking for a escapade out of Kolkata. Around same time last year me, Samik & Mannu had been to Digha. I tell you, that was first time I'd been to a beach and not taken to the wa...
