The great Indian Middle Class dream- Broken?

I The great Indian middle class dream is slowly turning into a night mare where the common man, as the middle class and the upper middle class is known, is not only being taxed like nobody's business but they have to pay the brunt of the poor, who are not tax payers! There are no subsidies or the tax benefits for us! Of course there are the ads but in all how much can a salaried middle class afford to really save? Back in 1991, when the man who was is our PM now, liberalized the economy and made the middle class realize their dreams,  is the very person who is shattering the dreams of this middle class! Ironic. Full circle of life- whatever you may want to call it! As the petrol prices reach almost 70 Rs/liter, and beyond in other states, it is hard to imagine what it would be like to run a house! If at all I am ever able to buy a house! The stark reality that, Metro cities and living in them is going to be as good as impossible unless, I stumble upon a lost relative who out o...

Dear Uncles

This post is dedicated to the newest Uncles, by virtue of being promoted from being the 'Bachelors' to becoming 'Masters' as in getting Married! Dear Mrs & Mr Mainak, First, a personal apology from me, because I could not come to any of the four venues! I really wanted to, but I have fallen sick thrice in the span of 8 months of my new job, thus already out of holidays! But, we hope that the struggle that you two went through for finding each other and then holding on to each other and then finally staring a journey of completely different magnitude was worth all the effort. I saw the pictures- and the two of you are looking wonderful! Made for each other! I wish we could solicit some advice to you, you know about the new married life et all, but I would rather that you share with us the newest experience of 'Marriage' to all of us!!! I am sure that there are stories and then there are stories that you would want and even if you don't want, we w...

Is it all about the Money, Honey?

Raj sent me a sms in the morning today, asking me to put up a post here. And later  realised that I had actually not written a post here for like the longest time.  But before I leap into the actual context of the Post, couple of things that I want to say *not related to the post* Aisha- Best wishes for your future in the country of Uncle Sam! I really hope that your new start brings in loads of hopes and loads of dreams that come true. Mannu- You have stopped posting anything barring the comments. Rathz, Dino & Karma- Same as above. Karma darling- you don't even post comments! Chaki- Man, you gave me such a huge nice cute little answer to the query about your honeymoon that I fell over! And better than Rajasthan, how about Rann of Kutch, Gujarat! Supposed to be Romantic, or so Mr. Bachchan says! ;) And now back to the post! Raj, your last post has inspired this post. It is such an inadvertent battle between being financially strong and being ab...

Unemployed

Not that I have been sitting home for like forever.. but anyway- I am unemployed. I am a fresher, I have work experience which is only in relation to my internships, and I have no idea what is my plan of action for the next day, forget about my life. Yeah, that is my life in a nutshell. My exams got over on the 5th of June. I had a job, yeah, the biggest LPO in the country had offered me a job, but they wanted me to join on the 7th June, and I wanted to fully immerse myself in couple of other things that had nothing to do with my career... in short I wanted a break. Or in the language of my relatives, I was evaluating my options. I had given my CLAT... the entrance exam for masters in law in national law school... turns out, me belonging to Delhi and of general quota, despite being ranked decently well, was getting National Law School Patna, that too in the second list. The ones offered that Law school had all said no to it. And, Patna. No offence, but, I am Delhi Girl and Bihar is...

This is LIFE!!

Wow! The first time I set up this blog, I had no clue how it's gonna shape up. A half of me was clueless about it's fate, the rest half was trying to figure out what would be the use of such a blog. Today when I look at it, with people wishing each other on their birthdays, boosting up others' morale, using the blog as a platform to showcase one's musical acumen, fighting over the country's political issues, planning out trips and keeping each other updated of their respective lives - yes, I am proud to be a part of such enthusiastic bunch of crazy buffoons who'd do anything and everything to be at each other's side. I must admit, it this blog that makes me wish to go back to my college days, back to that hole that I was so desperate to get out of. For the past 2 months, I have been staying in a little 2-room apartment with a friend of mine, B (let's call him that), at a place called Kalkaji. I liked the place when we got it because it is practically 1...
