Tada ! Time for some Karma-Sutra!!

Hi Junta ! Back again to torment you.

Excerpts from a SMS I got today:

What would you call a person who has relinquished all the pleasures of mortal life, live away from parents and all forms of civilization, bereft of sleep, wears and eats bare minimum and pays scant attention to the fairer-sex?

In older days they were called Hermits or Sadhus...Today they are called IT Professionals!!

My first reaction was " OMG :-) ROTFLMAO"!Whats with my language? This ain't the way I chat now, this is way I have started speaking! This seems to be more cryptic than Newspeak in 1984 !! Well this is what become of us - Digital Zombies. The virtual realm has engrossed us in such a degree that it is apparently beyond our capability to escape this digital asylum.Let me give an example: In morning my sleep is snapped by the sound of Gayatri Mantra streaming from Youtube,in office my entire time is spend in front of an IBM ThinkCentre working on intricate applications ,interspersed with leisure time when I listen to my sleek ipod nano, arriving home from office the first thing I do I rev up my Dell Studio and before sleep I have intense WarCraft sessions and the cycle continues.Weekends are no better maybe couple of movie on my lappy and more rounds of WarCraft. My weekend plan : Watch Avatar 3D in Imax !
I remember having the following convo with my friends long back:

Big P : Where's Karma?
D : Well,he is Debugging the soiled plates in the kitchen.
Big P : Where's Andy?
D : In his usual place.Downloading in the loo.
Shakes : Have the vegetables been De-fragmented?
D: Nah! I guess not.Who would be Compiling ?
Big P : I guess I have to.I am the only descent cook here.I am tired ,I need one F5?
D : F5? What is that?
Big P: Refresh !

Well, as a matter of fact this is certainly not the commonplace convo rather to amuse ourself, but the point is one could easy relate what might be the sense of the convo because all are well aware of the technical parlance.Technology has seeped into our system in such measure that it is sometime impossible to asunder real from unreal.Adda's and friendly chit-chat has given way to online chats and splurge of social media on net, tennis racquet or golf club has been replaced with Wii remote, our idea of adventure and sports has metamorphosis-ed into unlocking the latest World of Warcraft level or maybe slaying the abominable life-forms in Bioshock!Perhaps the day is not far when the Matrix world would be real.An excerpt from the film itself would drive the nail in place where I intend to.Here it is

Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind

I guess I have done enough hell-raising for now.People might have started thinking that I must have lost my marbles or might have watched Matrix and Terminator trilogies back to back.Breaking News: I haven't either. This post is result of an bizarre act of folly I did today.
Well,I was typing one document today and I had to write TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES LIMITED somewhere - all in caps.I had typed a lot and was hungry.I looked every nook but could not find the phrase in caps so that I could copy(for the unassumed let me inform that IT Professional have this appalling ability to copy-paste anything under the sun) as I was too disinclined to type it out.You know what I did? I typed the following in my PL/SQL Developer window, run it and Voila!

select upper('Tata Consultancy Services Limited')
from dual;

Beat that ! Period

ya ...thats true ... its a bit demotivating...
Loved the post. Karma rocks! The copy paste thing was really hilarious. While working in the software industry,we really develop this habit of copying everything under the sun .Even if we would have to type just two words, instead of typing them out we would copy paste them from somewhere else.

This a distress call to all TWM folks. This has been the longest duration of inactivity for TWM. So is it that we are all too busy or have all of us hit the writer's block. Let's break the spell of inactivity....HOW?? WHAT SHOULD I WRITE ABOUT?? I have an incomplete draft, shall I post that? May be I will do a recap of the past few days..No mood to write paragraphs.. Connect the dots yourself.. * Kaminey - Movie was good, the ending could have been better..The bong mafia coming with a long gun to the fight scene was really comic..Fahid Kapoor ki acting mast thi..waifey aap log ye movie dekhey kya?? * Books - Finally I read the book Love Story by Erich Segal..Hmmm the story is good but the effect of the classic book has not yet got into me..Meanwhile I am also reading 'The Great Indian Novel' by Shashi Tharoor..I will surely recommend this book..Tharoor has splendidly blended the tales from Mahabharata into the modern Indian history.. *Movies - I watched 'Little Miss
